I agree with Cody’s statements about the Christ in the commons. This TV series has a lot to do with good vs. evil principles and how they are intertwined and conflict with each other. More importantly I think it’s more about what happens in the end of this conflict and the moral consequences Vash deals with daily then just good vs. evil In both helping the needy and running for his life. It brings about a more personal story then one I have seen in a long time. You just really have to watch is to get the full meaning of what I am saying.
First off the point about how Vash is widely misunderstood is very prevalent. Everywhere he goes he must put on a fake identity so that he doesn’t make people frightened, after all he is wanted for the destruction of an entire city. As you later see trough out the show Vash’s companions learn the truth about Vash’s predicament in that he never did it and how we was blamed for all this. You find out he is nothing like the cold mean killer he was portrayed, but that he is a fun, playful, loving guy. Its actually puts the humor in the show, this big “scary” guy playing ball with kids and crying over with laughter from being tickled. It shows you his true side.
Second how he is represented by his companions, and even by his enemies as this some sort of hero or savior to the people, not the thugs but the main antagonist. You can see christian values and beliefs all over this series. Not Christian specificity but his morals. Through out the entire series he protects the weak, helps communities, and saves lives. He is even faced with sacrificing himself not only physically but mental for the good of all. This, I think, is a great example of Christ in the commons, it shows how his ideas and morals can be applied to anyone. Like I said before though you have to watch all of it, even until the end, to get the full meaning of this.
It is the comedy/action/drama/self sacrificing attitude/story that has pulled me into the world of Tri Gun and has stuck with me ever since. Words can’t describe the feelings you have for the characters by the end of the series when its all over.
