Response to Nicole Newhouses’s tv post

January 13th, 2009 by kristinlawrence

Nicole, i always thought that The Reba show was about the country singers life. i never knew it involved her diviorce and raising her children. That epsiode seems really interesting, because i know alot of people who use food stamps. Reba’s wrong food stamps is not for mooches. it’s for people who really need help providing for their families. One year my mom tried to apply for food stamps, because she’s a single parent trying to provide for me. but they told her she makes to much money. it’s funny because my mom thought she didn’t make enough money to provide for me. but obviously she was wrong. I think Reba should have re thought about doing that show, because im pretty sure she offended alot of people.

Family Guy tv post

December 16th, 2008 by kristinlawrence

Subject:

Family Guy takes place in a Rhode Island town. It’s about a dysfunctional family that strives to cope with everyday life as they are thrown from one crazt scenario to another. The family consists of a father named peter griffin, a mother named louis griffin, a daughter named meg griffin, a son named chris griffin, a little talking baby named stewie griffin, and a dog named bryan.

Content:

The vaules of this show is that it shows the truth about society and how society reflects on us. This show is not a christian show. It has cussing, violence, and sexual content. This show promotes all thee above, and that’s why this show is not good for little kids to watch. Even Stewie the talkin baby cusses and tries to kill his mother, on multiple occasions. The little t truth is that this show focuses on real problems in sociey. For an example on one episode After winning a game of Trivial Pursuit, Peter is convinced he is a genius. To prove Peter wrong, Brian suggests he take a test of the MacArthur Genius Grant. The test results say that Peter is technically mentally challenged. Peter has no problem abusing this handicap until Lois is injured and the kids are taken away because Peter is not mentally fit for parenting. There’s a movie similar to this called I am Sam. Some people might think that if you’re retarded you are uncapable of taking care of a child, and that;s one of the big issues they hit.

Evaluation:

Like I said before, this show is not a christian show. There is not many christian worldviews in this show. The only thing i could think of is that this family is loving and cares alot about each other. Even though they go through many trials, but when it comes down to it they love each other.

Response to Katie D’s movie post

December 15th, 2008 by kristinlawrence

okay, when I first saw this movie i thought it was really confusing. I didn’t know what the heck was goin on. It seemed like it was so much goin on, I could’nt really follow. Now that katie explains the main point I can kind of see it from the movie. I think that Ashton’s character(I forgot his name) should have left life and the his challenges up to God, because God always has a plan for us. I like how Katie made a statement about how  we recognize great leaders who overcome circumstances. That’s so true, Obama overcame a long period of gossip and he’s gonna become president.

Coach Carter the Movie

October 29th, 2008 by kristinlawrence

Subject:

Coach Carter is based on a true story in Richmond, California. The head coach Ken Carter made headlines for becnhing his undefeated basketball  team in 1999 for poor grades.

Content:

The meaning behind the movie was that Coach Carter was teaching his team a lesson. Playing beasketball is a privellege and keeping up your grades is your main priority. He benched his team because they wasn’t being true to him, when he asked them to keep up their grades. The little ‘t’ truths are that keeping up your grades might be hard, especially during basketball season, but you have to put an effort  into keeping up your grades.

Evaluation:

Even though some may disagree, I think that Coach Carter made a good decision to bench his boys. If they don’t even try to keep up their grades then they should be punished. The big ‘T’ truths are that Coach Carter cared for his team enough to push them into getting a better education and going to college. some of those boys were they first in their families, and that’s amazing. God is always helping others and he would challenge the 12 disciples to the extra mile. The world is full of lazy people, but there is always someone who challenges others; whether it’s a teacher, a mentor, parent, or sibling their is always someone who will challenge you to “Go THE EXTRA MILE.”

Response to Alyssa’s blog

Alyssa, I really like that song. That is a true love song, some men don’t feel that way about their girls. Some guys won’t say that they’ll die for them. Most will say they might take a bullet for their girls or get into a fight, but they won’t die for them. I feel the same way about that he has an grasp on christianity when he speaks about heaven, and he might not be christian, but he does have clear view of heaven. question…is he a christian or a non-christian? oh agian i really liked the lyrics of the song, good choice. i don’t always listen to rap and r&b, i like some country and rock.

Chris Brown

Label:CB’s song forever

“Forever”1, 2, 3, 4.Hey Hey Oh…
Hey Hey Oh…
It’s you and me moving
At the speed of light into eternity yer,
Tonight is the night to join me in the middle of ecstasy.
Feel the melody in the rhythm of the music around you, around you
I’m gonna take you there, I’m gonna take you there
So don’t be scared
I’m right here baby
We can go anywhere, go anywhere
But first it’s your chance,
Take my hand come with me
[Chorus:]
It’s like I’ve waited my whole life for this one night
It’s gonna be me you and the dance floor
’cause we’ve only got one night
Double your pleasure
Double your fun and dance
Forever (ever, ever)
Forever (ever, ever)
Forever (ever, ever)
Forever girl forever
Forever (ever, ever)
Forever (ever, ever)
Forever (ever, ever)
Forever on the dance floor
Feels like we’re on another level
Feels like our loves intertwined,
We can be two rebels breaking the rules
me and you, you and I
All you got to do is watch me
Look what I can do with my feet
Baby feel the beat inside,
I’m driving you can take the front seat
Just need you to trust me
Oh ah oh
It’s like!

[Chorus]

It’s a long way down,
We’re so high off the ground,
Sending for an angel to bring me your heart
Girl, where did you come from?
Got me so undone,
Gazing in your eyes got me singing what a beautiful lady
No “if”s, “and”s or “maybe”s
I’m releasing my heart and it’s feeling amazing
There’s no one else that matters
you love me and I won’t let you fall girl
Let you fall girl oh
Ah ah ye yer
I won’t let you fall, let you fall
Let you fall oh oh
Yer yer
Yer yer
It’s Like!

[Chorus]

Oh ah ah ah ah ah
Yer
Forever (ever, ever, ever)
Forever ever ah.

Subject:The main topic is music, and this one is about Chris Brown. Chris Brown is a r&b singer who also is a hip hop dancer. He mostly caters to females with his nice voice, but some guys like him also. I choose Chris Brown because I like his music and also his dancing.

Content: The values and beliefs of this song is that love is important to many people. Love is the strong feeling that humans have for someone or something that they really care about. The little t truth’s are that love is real to most people and that there are many types of love. One type of love is the love that people have with their family members. Another type of love is the love for pets, objects, or even celebrities. The love that Chris Brown expresses in this song is the love that only close people share with one another.

Evaluation:

A christian could learn what I have pointed out above; the different types of love. That the love that Chris is expressing doesn’t get expressed everyday, you don’t just walk up to a stranger and tell them that you love them. The world is filled with a lot of people who use the word “love” in many ways, but only people who have a deep conection with God or a close person use this type of love.
