In Response to Seth Brower Night at the Museum

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

I agree with Seth that this movie is about finding something. Also that he gains so much by the end. He becomes a whole different person by the end of the movie. I also think that this movie is about learing about and gaining responsiblity in life, because in the begininng of the movie Larry has no job and no life really. He learns that to support his son he needs to get a job so he takes a “leap of faith” you coulod say and starts as a night security guard for the Museum of Natural History in New York. Larry really starts to learn about what it means to be responsible when he learns that he is the only one who can stop the old janitors form stealing artifacts from the museum. This is the turning point for Larry you see his lack of responsiblity disappear and responsiblity appear. In the bible in first Samuel  22:14 it says “…who is so faithful among thy…” In the movie Larry is faithful that he can stop the janitors from stealing the precious artfiact which to be faithful you need to be resposible because you need to keep yourself faithful. So in all Larry becomes more responsible and more faithful in himself I believe.

HITCH starring Will Smith(movie unit entry)

The main plot in the movie Hitch is how you just need to be yourself and the right person for you will come. Don’t pretend to be someone your not. The movie takes place in New York City, and Hitch (the main character) helps people find their “soul mates” by showing the good sides and having the clients be themselves.

I strongly believe that the thesis of this movie is be yourself, and don’t pretend to be something your not because you just get burned. I say this because in the movie all the advice that Hitch gives is things that show people how great they are. For example he decides to help a guy named Albert Brennaman who likes Allegra Cole. In the long run he helps Albert show Allegra how great he is. This reflects socities viewss because we see stuff like this everywhere. For example e-harmony a dating website that matches you with people similar to you. Also match.com does the same thing. Also with those PSA’s that you see on T.V. about courage, love, and being unique. So i think as a society we welcome the fact of just being “me” and being unique.

If we go more indepth with this movie we find it teaches us many chritsian/Godly views. First it teaches us to love one another for who they are not for who they aren’t. As christians I believe that  this is something we tell each other more than we think. We tell each other things like, “I love you just teh way you are”, or “Don’t change I like you the way you are”, and “be you.” This movie strongly promotes those things. Second this movie also promotes relationships which as christians we are “addicted” to. We have so many realtionships. We have relationships with God, pastors, friends, teachers, missionaries, etc.. So this is also kinda a Christ in the Common example, because God wants us to have good, healthy realtionships. Another example of Christ in the Common is how Hitch never turns people away. Just like God never turns us away, but welcomes us with open arms. In the bible God mentions love three hundred and six times in the bible. Now to me that shows that God really wants to teach us about love. The real question is though will we accept what he is teaching us or will we turn it down. Or simply will we love people no matter who, or what they are or should we love people for lying.
